On Valentines Day 2019, Martha Kegerise of Marthas Singles in Newtown, PA spoke to the club on Does Cupid Still Exist in Todays World? A traditional matchmaker originally from Brooklyn, Martha founded her company in 2011 to help encourage and match up single and divorced people.

Some of Marthas advice:

For women: let the man pay. Dont try to be his mother.
For men: be responsible. Get a good haircut. Ask a woman out, and keep trying. Men used to send a drink to someone at a bar. Weve lost some of those niceties. Show interest.
For everyone: look! Lock eyes with the person you desire. Dont look away. Show that youre interested1
Appearance matters. Dont wear sweat pants everywhere. You have to get attention first, and you need to look your best to get attention. You can meet people everywhere.
Talk! People cant hear the sound of your voice in a computer. Call, talk, and get together. Dont get involved in long, drawn-out texting over months. Get together in person in the first couple of weeks.

There were some pretty funny moments that may not be politically correct to mention here, but Martha was very entertaining. Martha brought Valentines gifts for everyone, and it was a rollicking Valentines Day meeting.

Our engaging speaker today was Scott Needham, the owner of Princeton Air Conditioning in Princeton Junction, NJ. He explained the newest technology in Geothermal Systems. We learned that the Earth can provide energy in both the heating and cooling cycle. It can also heat hot water in the summertime.

The advantages are profound. Beyond the obvious benefit of eliminating fossil fuel emissions, it is very cost effective over time. The Internal Rate of Return is very favorable. People who are conscious of the environment and take a long term view, it make sense. Until 2022, there are substantial tax credits available.

It was a very interesting presentation.

It was a pleasure presenting to such a welcoming group of people. You have a great club! Also wonderful to see so many old friends.

I have friends in Sweden who heat and cool their house from pipes buried in the earth. That in Sweden!
